Edinburgh University Anti-Cuts Coalition (EUACC) was established with the intention of building a mass anti-cuts movement on campus.

Last year, at the height of the student movement, EUACC organised a series of key demonstrations against the introduction of £9,000 fees and mobilised students into an occupation of their lecture theatre in Appleton Tower.

On top of this EUACC submerged itself in broader, national campaigns against the cuts. EUACC mobilised for the joint NUS/TUC demonstration in Manchester and arranged 3 student buses, with union leaders, to the TUC national demonstration on March 26th.

In addition, EUACC stood alongside our lecturers on the picket lines as they took strike action to defend their pensions and our education.

This month, Edinburgh University announced that, in 2012, they will raise tuition fees to £9,000 a year, meaning a total of £36,000 for a degree. The privatisation of our education will alienate a generation of young people from higher education.

Coupled with unrivalled graduate unemployment and a general lack of opportunities for young people it is imperative that we organise together to build a mass movement to defend our education and resist the cuts.!/event.php?eid=209808825748629&notif_t=event_invite
